Ailing events organizer Big Kev is getting much support from well-wishers.
A Kes.10,000 per-attendant dinner will take place next Friday night to raise funds for the medication of Kevin Ombajo, popularly known as Big Kev, who has been ailing from effects of a recurring brain tumor.
Big Kev, the founder of Tru Blaq Events recently had his 8th brain surgery which unfortunately resulted in him losing his sight.
On a Facebook post back in early December, he explained what happened saying:
I lost my eyesight after the latest surgery. The doctors call it optic atrophy. They say that the optic nerves dried up.
Kev has had a recurrent tumor since 2010 and as now fellow entertainers have stepped in to lend a helping hand. President Uhuru is also said to have visited him in hospital earlier today (February 5th) though no formal communication or photos have been released.
According to Kev’s buddy and State House communications official Thomas Kwaka, commonly known as Big Ted, Friday’s invite-only event in Nairobi will be an industry coming together “to have fun and to celebrate him.”
Big Kev joined the entertainment industry in 1995 through a gospel group called “Crowning the Lord in Praise” The group also had Big Ted, Circuite, Jerry Okungu among others. I wonder how Circuite went from gospel to singing ‘Manyake.’
After a brief career as an artiste, Kev became an events organizer.
Despite his health setbacks, Kev’s company has still soared high, even managing to organize a major gospel event on December 17 that featured Kenya’s top gospel artistes.
