Meet The 12-Year-Old Ghanaian Girl Representing Africa At The 2017 World Spelling Bee Competition

This is Lily Tubga

She is 12 years old and a student of Solidarity International School, Ashaiman.

Lily Tubga is the champion of the 2017 Spelling Bee Competition, Ghana

The Solidarity International School student beat more than 190 students in the competition this year. She won with the word ‘BACULIFORM’.

Lily will represent Ghana and the entire African Continent at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States of America.

The 12-year-old said after the win:

“It’s a really great honor. I plan on doing everything possible to make Ghana proud.”
