The Following are news highlights in Ethiopia’s major media outlets on Sunday.

Mulatu Teshome–Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome, during his five-day official visit to Turkey this week, discussed with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on further expanding Turkish investment in Ethiopia and infrastructure development as well as cooperation in the fight against terrorism.

At a joint press conference held in Ankara, both presidents noted that Ethiopia and Turkey agreed on the need to further up-grade their already existing excellent strategic partnership, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (Ethiopian News Agency/ENA)

–Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome has appointed new ambassadors of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

The newly appointed ambassadors will be representing Ethiopia in over eight countries, including Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Kuwait and Uganda. (Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation/EBC)

–The government of Ethiopian will scale up the efforts it has launched by its own capacity to cope with the drought that hit some lowland pastoralist areas, said Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO).

Moreover, it will continue coordinating the responses of international organizations and partners to the drought, GCAO said in a statement it sent to FBC on Friday. (Fana Broadcasting Corporate/FBC)

–Ethiopia has attracted foreign direct investments (FDI) worth 1.2 billion U.S. dollars in the first half budget year, the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) said.
