Cameroon hosts major trade fair in central Africa

The 6th edition of International Trade Fair called PROMOTE 2017 is being held in Cameroon’s capital Yaounde.

The trade fair, which was launched by Cameroonian Prime Minister Philemon Yang on Monday, has attracted many local and overseas visitors.

PROMOTE is a major trade fair in central Africa. The first edition of PROMOTE, which was held in 2002 in Yaounde, was only attended by companies from central Africa. But this year’s fair has attracted 1,300 companies from all over the world, out of them 1,000 from Africa and the rest from other regions.

The organizer of PROMOTE 2017 told Xinhua on Tuesday many companies present in the fair are small and medium-sized enterprises who want to promote their business and make partnerships with others.

“The trade fair is one of the biggest in Africa, I am happy to have the opportunity to be here,” said a business woman from Madagascar who exhibits handicrafts like hand bags and women’s caps to Xinhua.

It is also important to young people to find jobs, said the minister. Enditem
