KMA elects new PM …Gov’t appointees sworn-in

Mr ABRAHAM Boadi, popularly known as Opooman, an Assemblyman  for Nhyiaeso electoral area has been elected as the new Presiding Member (PM) for the Kumasi  Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to steer the affairs of the Assembly.

Mr. Boadi was the sole contestant, thus compelling the 110 out of the 130 members of the assembly present to vote for him, while 20 voted against him.

Mr. Abraham Boadi has promised to work with all members of the house for the effective running of the assembly and to help address the pressing needs of the residents in the metropolis.

According to him, he is up to the task and determined to be more committed to the assembly business, as he has a lot to deliver, having learnt a lot from his predecessors.

Mr. Michael Attaogye, the Metropolitan Co-ordinating Director of the Assembly, on his part said there would be an orientation programme for the new government appointees as early as possible, to help them become abreast with the Assembly concept and by-laws, especially at committee levels.

He entreated both the elected and government appointees to embrace one another for the effective running of the assembly business, irrespective of one’s political affiliation to enable them see the success of the assembly.

In a related development, the new government appointees have been officially sworn into the by a High court judge, Justice Nicholas Agbodakpi.
