#XENOPHOBIA: Ghanaian Nationals in South Africa Have Deeply Regretted Traveling Abroad!

Ghanaian immigrants in South Africa are craving to return home following what they describe as “brutal xenophobic attacks” by some South Africans against African immigrants.

Speaking to Starr FM, one such immigrant, Donald, revealed that his fellow Ghanaians are not only living in fear and insecurity but also are they thinking of returning home.

“We are in doors more because of the xenophobic attacks,” he recounted.

But responding to this troubling development, foreign affairs minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, revealed that government was carefully monitoring the development in South Africa.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister has indicated that the government is in control of the situation and that it is being monitored closely stating that the Ghanaian mission in Pretoria visited shops owned by Ghanaians across the country on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 to ensure that they are safe.

““I have invited the [High commissioner] to our Ministry to tell us what they are doing to protect our nationals. Whether or not our nationals are there legally or illegally does not matter now. Their safety is key now,” she revealed.
