GNA-Organised Labour has pledged its support to the government and called for a partnership to get the workers out of the many crippling challenges that they faced into the path of prosperity and hope.
Dr Yaw Baah, Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, in an address at the National May Day parade in Accra, said it was not too late to work with government and the private sector to start building a great future full of hope and prosperity for the current and future generations.
“Mr President, we are counting on you to lead us into this future. We in organised labour will like to pledge our support for you and your government, together with businesses, in the true spirit of tripartism and social partnership, guided by the principles of mutual respect,” Dr Baah said.
“We can achieve faster growth and create decent jobs for Ghanaians. We believe that you can lead us out of poverty and restore hope to all Ghanaians,” he added.
He said the creation of decent jobs and the reviving of all sectors including agriculture and manufacturing would start working again.
Dr Baah pledged Organised Labour’s support and commitment for the various government initiatives, including one district one factory, one village one dam, small business development, planting for food and jobs, national entrepreneurship and innovation programmes, aimed to revitalise the economy and create jobs.
He called on government to dialogue with Organised Labour on issues affecting the workers and expressed the hope that together they could achieve a lot through social dialogue.
