Leti Arts in partnership with GhanaThink Foundation through its ‘Junior Camp Ghana’ programme presents the Uncompromising Passion Book Donation Tour – an opportunity to learn from one of the celebrated entrepreneurs in Africa. ‘Uncompromising Passion’ – the Humble Beginnings of an African Video game Industry’ is a great example of documenting an African success story in an inspiring and enjoyable style.
The book, co-authored by Samson Ojo Abiodun recounts the life of a young man who actively followed his dream with unwavering focus. This young man is the author and CEO of Leti Arts – one of the renowned young entrepreneurs in Africa; Eyram Akofa Tawia. He had this to say, “This book is not a motivational book. It was not written to tell you – you can. It was written to tell you – you are already doing it. Having had all my education in Ghana and being one of the pioneers of the African video game industry, I believe it’s time we started documenting our stories as Africans instead of always looking up to the likes of Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs. They are great men no doubt but it’s time we started paying attention to our own stories on the continent.”
Leti Arts pride themselves to present African folklores and cultures through meaningful games and digital comics to an authentic worldwide audience. They also believe in encouraging and building capacity of the next generation talent hence the birth of this inspiring and entertaining book.
As part of efforts to impact the next generation to live tomorrow’s career today is the birth of this partnership that seeks to distribute 1000 copies of this book to school libraries across the country. This book tracks Eyram’s journey from days at school to present day while highlighting Ghana on the world map of video game development through captivating creative work being churned out by his company, Leti Arts since 2009.
Director of GhanaThink Foundation, Ato Ulzen-Appiah recounted “Leti Arts shares the same passion that we do with the Junior Camp Ghana program when it comes to building skills. Eyram Tawia’s book chronicles a great story about building skills and how he ends up contributing massively to an African video game industry. I’m eager to see the book in libraries all over Ghana”.
The tour is slated to commence in May 2017 from the Greater Accra Region and would follow through all other regions in the country with both private and public educational institutions being beneficiaries.
Kofi Kafui Kornu of the Junior Camp Internship Program; an initiative of the GhanaThink Foundation believes, “This book tour is to help improve the reading habits of the beneficiaries, while teaching them the power of focus, resilience, and hard work in fulfilling one’s dreams. It is our hope that these students would dream, dare, and do.”
GhanaThink Foundation through its flagship programme ‘Junior Camp Ghana’ continues to impact lives and minds of over 5000 high school students in Ghana since its inception in 2013. With focus on providing mentoring and career guidance, Junior Camp Ghana encourages students to live tomorrow’s career today. The partnership is one that seeks to satisfy the values of both parties that seek to greatly stimulate the next generation of African talent.
