More than 200 people were left homeless in Tanzania’s northwest region of Mara following heavy rains that continue in several parts of the East African nation, authorities said on Saturday.
Glorius Luoga, Tarime District Commissioner, said the rains have also destroyed property whose value was yet to be established.
Luoga appealed for humanitarian assistance, especially food and shelter, for the victims, saying most of them have been left empty handed.

The Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA) recently issued an alert over periods of heavy rainfall exceeding 50 millimeters in some regions. Enditem
