Technical error wrongfully announces Nasty C as winner of Best African Act ahead of BET Awards 2017

Although BET Awards 2017 is yet to hold, a list of several winners were leaked on its official website, putting South African rapper Nasty C as winner of the Best International Act: Africa award.

Consequently, the Hell Naw hitmaker’s inbox was flooded with congratulatory messages even though the show is still a week ahead.

Nevertheless, the announcement was quickly removed from the website after the irregularity was discovered. Afterwards, BET organisers released a statement blaming the unusual display on a glitch that chose random nominees as winners of the awards. In other words, those who were displayed are not necessarily the winners in those categories.

The statement reads:

“An unforeseen technical issue on BET.com’s BET AWARDS show page resulted in several categories revealing randomly selected nominees as winners. We apologize for the confusion to all of the artists affected and to our fans and we look forward to celebrating this year’s winners at the BET Awards LIVE from LA on June 25th in the US and airing in the UK on Tuesday, June 27th, in Africa on Tuesday, June 27th, and in France on Wednesday, June 28th.”

Meanwhile the 20-year-old took to Instagram to announce that he was casting for a new music video to be shot in Los Angeles. He hinted he has plans to shoot a video for his song, “Allow”, which features American rapper French Montana.
