Ghanaian-born Welsh teenager Ethan Ampadu has joined English Premier League champions Chelsea from League two club Exeter City.
The 16-year-old defender has played for Wales at under-16 and under-19 level.
Ampadu made 13 Exeter appearances in 2016-17 and they hope to earn a fee for the player who came through their academy.
The versatile defensive midfielder was named as the Dragons’ best young player of 2016.
Dad Kwame was also a professional footballer and currently coaches Arsenal’s Under-18s.
Ampadu’s heritage means he could also represent Ireland and Ghana.
But the Welsh FA are doing everything in their power to ensure he stays in their system, meaning he could soon be handed his first cap.
He was namedin Wales boss Chris Coleman’s senior squad for their World Cup qualifier againstSerbia in May , but did not play and is uncapped.
At a time he was on the wanted list of most top Premier clubs.
