PSG Sign Former Chelsea And Arsenal Star Lassana Diarra

Paris Saint-Germain have announced the signing of former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder, Lassana Diarra on an 18-month contract.

The 32-year-old arrives having spent the last month as a free agent following his mutually agreed exit from Emirati club Al Jazira on December 24.

Born and bred in the French capital, Diarra said he was delighted to finally join the team he once supported as a boy after his long journey that included nine different clubs.

He told PSG’s official website: ‘I am very happy to have signed for my home-town club. Paris Saint-Germain represents a lot to me and, with the international dimension the club has taken in recent seasons, it is every player’s dream to play here.

‘I am lucky enough to make this dream come true, to know what it feels like to play at the Parc des Princes wearing the Rouge et Bleu.

‘I intend to do everything I can, bring all my experience and show all my desire to play, to prove that the club has made the right choice in showing its confidence in me.’

Diarra, who has 34 caps for the France national team and played at Euro 2008, was a product of Le Harve’s youth academy before being plucked by Chelsea in 2005.

He then joined Arsenal in 2007 but failed to settle under Arsene Wenger. He moved to Portsmouth, then a Premier League club, just six months later.

It was at Fratton Park where he started to dazzle and was part of the side that won the FA Cup in 2008. He eventually secured a £21million move to Real Madrid, where he would go on to make 117 appearances and pick up a La Liga title.

He then spent two seasons in Russia with big-spenders Anzhi Makhachkala and another season with Lokomotiv Moscow before returning to his native France with Marseille in 2015.

Again, he went in search of a final payday at Al Jazira but left after making just five appearances for the club.
