NHS urge patients to stay away from A&E following ‘major IT incident’

Patients are being warned not to go to A&E today after a major crash on NHS computers.

The ‘major incident’ has left GPs unable to access patient details – after huge technical problems hit systems across Manchester and Wales.

GPs say they are dealing with ‘serious and life-threatening’ appointments only, with the crash ‘severely inhibiting’ patient care.

Email and intranet services have also been affected by the problem.

Manchester Royal Infirmary and Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital are among those affected.
