Former Black Stars striker, Tony Yeboah has heaped praises on Liberia’s president, George Oppong Weah.
The former AC Milan and Chelsea player was sworn in as the president of Liberia on Tuesday and the former Eintracht Frankfurt goal poacher was one of the few footballers who was invited to witness Weah’s incredible achievement after hanging his boots as a professional footballer.
“Weah has indeed made footballers proud and I’m really happy for him,” Yeboah told Kumasi based Angel FM.
“His swearing-in ceremony was very great and we as former footballers went there to celebrate with him his remarkable achievement.”
“The country’s citizens l must say really love and desire George as their president to lead their nation. Even though there were a host of foreigners who equally vied for the presidency position,” Tony added.
Quizzed if he will follow the footsteps of Weah, Tony Yeboah insisted he has not thought of pursuing a political career.
The swearing-in ceremony saw many football personalities like CAF president, Dr Ahmad Ahmad, Kwesi Nyantakyi, Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, J.J. Okocha, Kalusha Bwalya, Kwame Ayew among other people.
Oppong Weah remains the Africa Footballer who have won the FIFA Ballon d’Or award.
