Two British skiers have died after falling ‘several hundred metres’ in the French Alps.
A third man raised the alarm after the men, aged 25 and 30 and from Cambridge, fell while skiing off piste at an altitude of 1,700 metres.
They were tackling the notoriously steep Le Couloir Du Chapeau, in the resort of Chamonix, which has a 40-degree slope.
Rescuers arrived within 10 minutes of the third skier raising the alarm at about 11.40am on Sunday, but the two men were pronounced dead at the scene.
