Tories ‘need to listen to young people on Brexit’

The former education secretary has urged Theresa May to endorse votes for 16-year-olds, and to listen to young people when drawing up social policy and Brexit plans.

Speaking to The Sunday Times for her first print interview since last month’s reshuffle, Justine Greening said the PM needed to offer young people a more ‘optimistic’ vision for the future, in which social mobility played a much bigger role in government plans.

May’s new deputy, David Lidington, rejected the idea of giving 16 and 17-year-olds the vote last week.
