The parents of a ‘miracle’ baby who was left mute by surgery have shared a touching recording of his first sounds.

Charlie Douthwaite, now 18 weeks old, faced a race against the clock when he was born in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, last October.

His parents launched a desperate appeal for organ donors after their son was born with only half a heart.

Tracie and Steven shared the emotional plea on Facebook and managed to find a match for Charlie, who was the smallest baby looking for a heart in all of the EU.
