When Australian skier Jade Hameister gave a TEDx talk a few years ago, she was bombarded by trolls online.
She was explaining her journey towards the Polar Hat Trick (she’s the youngest person ever to traverse the North Pole, South Pole and Greenland ice sheet), in a bid to encourage other young women to follow their dreams.
Pretty epic for a teenager.
And yet, her accomplishments were met with a load of sexist remarks, such as ‘make me a sandwich’ (LOL, so original!).
So on 13 January this year…she did just that. At the South Pole.
The 16-year-old skied unassisted across the Greenland icecap – completing the second part of the hat trick.
