Jurgen Klopp explains how Liverpool have improved without Philippe Coutinho

Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool became too reliant on Philippe Coutinho and have become a better side since the Brazilian joined Barcelona in January.

The 25-year-old became the third most expensive player in history when he joined Ernesto Valverde’s Champions League favourites in a £142million deal last month.

In the absence of their former playmaker, Liverpool have won seven of their last 10 games and scored three goals or more on four occasions.

‘With Phil we were giving him a four-yard pass and you don’t need that,’ Klopp said, explaining how his team has adapted.
