An emotional Antonio Conte has paid tribute to Davide Astori following the Fiorentina captain’s death aged 31 on Sunday.
Astori was staying in a hotel ahead of Sunday’s fixture against Udinese and was found dead in his room.
The defender was capped 14 times by Italy and worked with Conte during the Chelsea manager’s two-year stint as head coach of the national team.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Manchester City on Sunday, Conte paid a special tribute to Astori.
‘This is a tragedy, and this news really hurt me,’ he told Sky Sports.
