An adviser to the President, Dr Kwame Amoako Tuffuor has called on the Minister of Health Kwaku Agyemang Manu to give up his job if he feels incapacitated in the current scheme of affairs following the novel coronavirus pandemic.
He noted that the Health Ministry is not the only outfit he can serve in explaining that there are other capacities he is equally good at but must allow experts to steer the wheel at the moment.
In an interview he granted TV3 monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the NPP founding member stated “The Minister of Health knows his capability…if the job at this time of an emergency, the problem is bigger than him, naturally he can serve in other capacities he can actually come up invite other experts or give up his job”
According to him, Ghana is currently faced with an emergency and requires quick solutions in dealing with the situation but if it is the case the sector Minister cannot collaborate with the experts in the field, he ought to resign.
“When you are faced with an emergency, you look for emergency solutions, quick solutions. If we have somebody who is technically sound and knows about these illnesses it helps a lot. Secondly you can also have a lot of experts that should be able or should be allowed to come to the centre…invite them, come to the centre work with the Minister. If the Minister cannot work with them then the minister would have to give up his job. We are in a crises period and you cannot protect anybody. It is about our citizens…if you can project what possibly could happen, without throwing panic in this situation then we should encourage the President, we should encourage the government to do what they have to do to make sure the right things are done and therefore other people can come in and help”
