The 2020 parliamentary candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) for Salaga South Constituency in the Savannah Region, Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah, has today donated 5 Veronica buckets to the Salaga Government Hospital.
The gesture forms part of the Salaga South NDC’s Parliamentary candidate efforts, contributions, and commitment towards the fight against coronavirus (Covid-19) within the municipality and the constituency at large.
The presentation was done on behalf of the parliamentary candidate by the constituency executives led the Constituency Vice Chairman, Mr. Awudu Borga.
The East Gonja Municipal Director, Health Services, Madam Gertrude Yentumi, received the items on behalf of the hospital.
She expressed her sincerest appreciations to the Salaga South NDC and Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah for the kind gesture, adding that the donation has come at the opportune time and also requested for more of such items.
She entreated all and Sundry to carry the message of handwashing to the general public.
She also noted that the hospital needs more of the Veronica Buckets to be stationed at the various lorry stations to enhance proper handwashing practices.
Speaking in an interview with Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah to Broadcastghana’s Amankwa Kennedy Opambour, she explained that as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak, one of the foremost things we have been required to do is hand wash frequently with soap under running water. She intimated that if we are being told to wash our hands under running water in a place like our constituency and we know the conditions here which are that we do not have running water; “the taps don’t flow every day and that’s why we made the first point of call to present these items to the hospital today to make it easy for patients, staff, visitors and other stakeholders of the hospital who come there to adhere to the Hand Wash protocols.” She said the donation was done in keeping with the advocacy to hand wash frequently in the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus.
Hajia Zuwera also noted that, the NDC hopes to provide further support to the hospital to enable it run effectively in this period of difficulty.
