The Deputy National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edem Agbana has written to organizers for this year’s National Students Awards Ceremony due to the decision by the organizers to include the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wuntumi among the panelists who will speak at the event slated on the 31st of October 2020.
In a letter to the Chairman of the occasion, the NDC Youth Organizer stated that, he is reusing himself from the panel of speakers for the occasion due to the decision to empanel Chairman Wuntumi as one of the speakers for the awards ceremony.
According to the Edem Agbana, his decision is because, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP is a threat to gender progress and political decency.
He further accused Chairman Wuntumi of using abusive language on radio as he was named as the most abusive politician per the report by the Media Foundation For West.
He also cited instances where Chairman Wuntumi used abusive words against the former Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Sharlotte Osei and the Vice Presidential candidate of the NDC, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
He is therefore of the view that, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP is not fit for purpose for the Ceremony.
