South Africa via Western Sydney, hip hop and r&b artist KYMIE shares her new single ‘Name’. Produced by and featuring close collaborator Kwame, ‘Name’ explores the narrative of a deepening love affair between two individuals trapped in the purgatory between love and lust. Using a sparse yet powerful production from Kwame, Kymie is able to show everything that she has to offer, including a velvet-like vocal performance that reinforces the emotional sensitivity of the single. ‘Name’ is a taste of what to expect on her upcoming EP Indecision,out December 3rd.
Speaking on the single, Kymie details; ‘Name’ is about the journey of two lovers who are conflicted by love and lust. When writing ‘Name’ I wanted to capture the roller coaster of emotions that go along with these types of relationships and their very turbulent nature’.
Hailing from South Africa via Western Sydney, singer Kymie (pron. Kim-mee) channels powerfully woven, dynamic lyricism laced with ambition and flair. Already passing 100k streams, the track was featured on Spotify‘s ‘New Music Friday’ and ‘Indie Arrivals’, as well as Apple Music’s ‘Best of The Week’ and ‘The New Australia’. Following this release, Kymie jumped into a string of packed out showcases for BIGSOUND 2019, sealing her position as the new queen of Australian r&b.
