In a little over two weeks, Ghanaians will parade to their respective polling stations to exercise their franchise on their next presidential and parliamentary candidates who will lead the nation for another 4 years. This poll will go down the historical annals of the country and has been touted as one of the most competitive elections ever to be held in the country. The political tensions are soaring and the leaders of various political parties have been engaging in tremendous political activities over the past weeks to solicit for support ahead of the poll.
Ahead of the poll, many online polls have been conducted across media houses, policy think-tanks and non-government organisations to analyse the performance of each of the parties and probably make predictions and analysis. The results of these polls cannot be generalised but reflect the views of a section of Ghanaians who participated in the poll.
With exactly 17 days to the much anticipated poll, a new online poll organised by TV3’s “Election Command Centre” on Twitter has predicted the winner of the impending elections. This poll was conducted to collate the ideas of Ghanaians on which party they will be voting for. The poll questioned, “If elections were held today which party will you vote for?”
After a period of 10 hours, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) were leading the verdict with a slight margin ahead of the ruling New Patriotic Party. According to the final results, the smaller parties are also working assiduously to make an impact come December 7th.
The poll had gained a total of 5,483 votes. The NDC was leading with a total of 2,357 votes which represent 43% as against some 2,248 participants who voted from the Akuffo Addo-led NPP government.
