Self-acclaimed broadcast journalist based in the United States of America, Kevin Ekow Taylor has succeeded in rallying other Ghanaians in the diaspora to launch a campaign against the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Chairperson for the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensah. Mr. Taylor who is the host of the controversial political show, ‘With All Due Respect’, has for the past days been threatening to get Ghanaians speak out against what he’s termed as a threat on the country’s democracy and free speech.
Today, in Washington DC, Kevin Taylor got dozens of Ghanaians speak ‘bitterly’ against the President and the EC Chair. They held placards with several inscriptions to register their displeasure with issues bothering the conduct of the 2020 electoral process, security and violence, and corruption.
Kevin Taylor in pictures shared on his Facebook page, felt really gratified for making this bold agenda happen. Though his motives remain questionable given the repetitive attacks on government.
The message as carried on the placards read as; “Akufo Addo stop the attacks on democracy by your invincible parliamentary vigilantes; Akufo-Addo stop spilling innocent blood now; Mr Presdient don’t run from the insecurity you created in Ghana” and many others against the President.
For the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensah, the caution were largely for her to refrain from any attempt to rig the 2020 general elections. Others dared to call her incompetent in executing the role she’s been assigned.
“Incompetent EC Boss, Jean Mensah must resign immediately; EC Boss don’t rig the 2020 election for Akufo Addo” some of the inscriptions on the placards read.
But could these have any consequence on the coming elections? It might be a stain on the reputation of the persons to who these messages are directed.
But what do you think?
