The nominations for the 63rd annual Grammy Awards were revealed in a lifestream Tuesday.
Beyoncé came out on top with nine nominations, followed by Taylor Swift, Roddy Ricch and Dua Lipa with six apiece. Brittany Howard, of Alabama Shakes fame, picked up a surprising five nods for her solo debut.
While a lot of artistes are happy with their nominations, Pop Star Justin Bieber and The Weeknd have come out to express their displeasure with this year’s nominations.
Justin Bieber is nominated in the best pop vocal album category for his album Changes while single Yummy is up for best pop solo performance. His song Intentions, featuring rapper Quavo, is also up for best pop duo/group performance.
In a post on Instagram, the singer stated that his album “Changes” was an RnB album and so doesn’t understand why the Grammys Committee decided to nominate it in the Pop category.
“I am flattered to be acknowledged and appreciated for my artistry,” he wrote. “Changes was and is an RnB album. it is not being acknowledged as an RnB album which is very strange to me,” he added.
Justin was not the only one who had something to say, The Weeknd, without mincing any words stated that the Grammys has always being “Corrupt.”
The Weeknd’s smash hit “Blinding Lights” was eligible for nomination, as was his chart-topping album After Hours.
“The Grammys remain corrupt. You owe me, my fans and the industry tranparency,” he wrote on Instagram.
