The death of a man doesn’t mean you have the right to claim everything he struggled for with his wife whiles he was alive said Amoateng, the bosom friend of the late Fredrick Apaah who lost his life on 7 May 2020 at the 37 military hospital in Accra. Fredrick when alive was a business man but most of his businesses are hidden overseas as that was where he established himself. Fredrick was once a real struggle and everyone saw that, but what most didn’t see and neither did most people know was who made him rich or who gave him the push to go up.
Family of the late Fredrick Apaah believes it should be them to take full ownership of his assets since he came from a family but who was behind him whiles he got those properties, who helped him acquire those properties are not of relevant importance to them because they believe is needless since the man would have communicated with them if someone gave him a hand in life.
Fredrick Apaah brought Mrs. Apaah to the family in September 2015 to show the family that he is officially married, and the family believe Fredrick had everything in place before Mrs. Apaah came into his life. According to Mrs. Apaah, he met Fredrick when he came to Ghana in August 2002. She met him at lapaz and it was Fredrick who saved him when street robbers wanted to rob her. Fredrick came to her rescue and they became friends that moment.
Mrs. Apaah who at the time was living in California was well endowed and had enough on her but couldn’t right away take Fredrick along. She decided to settle with him but officially became married in September 2015 though their relationship started in August 2002. They became more than friends for more than 12 years before finally getting married in other to push Fredrick to the US. Whiles they were friends before marriage, Mrs. Apaah was the one who brought goods from the US every two months for Fredrick to sell and keep the profit whiles he forwards the goods price to her in the US to acquire another goods.
It was through this business that she was able to set a life for Fredrick and herself in Ghana and abroad. According to Mrs. Apaah, she has suffered at the hands of men before so when she met Fredrick, she made sure everything they acquired was registered in her name even before they both officially got married in 2015. They have no children because doctors report confirmed they were incapable of having children, but that didn’t stop them from adoption as an option. They have three adopted children whom are all in the US and couldn’t come for their fathers funeral because of their health and wellness. They are been treated from complications of corona.
Fredrick was buried last week Saturday and it was there the family made it known to the wife that, she should submit all the properties of her late husband so the family can share it and use someone to keep the family surviving. The wife Mrs Apaah who was still in mourning state, walked out of the family talk and instructed the family to take any debt that comes out of the funeral because it was her that brought all the money they requested for the funeral so if profit came, they should take it and if loss came they should also take it.
It is on record that the family requested for GH¢120,000 from the widow for the burial citing reasons that it was a big funeral because of Fredrick’s pedigree in the society. Mrs. Apaah vehemently told them she had no such calibre of money and the only amount she can afford was GH¢60,000 and if the family can’t use that for the funeral then she has nothing to offer again. Funeral home which conducted the funeral said vividly that the family paid him GH¢49,856 for the whole funeral including mortuary cost and coffin.
The remaining of the amount of over GH¢10,000 cedis family couldn’t account for and still insisted that there has been a debt of GH¢19,900 from the funeral. According to the sisters of Fredrick Apaah, the wife should pay for the debt of the funeral because it was her husband’s funeral though they were in charge, but still the debt must be the payment of the wife. Mrs. Apaah walked out of the talk and left just to be met with a delegation from the Bretuo family of her late husband to give them the properties of her husband so they can share it equally. One for the family and one for the wife but, how can you share one house and one car, and even the car and the house is in the woman’s name said Mr. Amoateng who knew his friend very well and knew it was the wife who helped him acquire everything and all the money came from the business of the wife.
The family has threatened to teach Mrs Apaah a lesson if she doesn’t give up the car and the house so she can go to the US and take whatever is there but Mrs. Apaah said that, they have no property in the state and they live in a rented apartment in California. She purposely build this house with his husband because she didn’t want to be living in a rented apartment in her own country. The family believes Mrs Apaah is just an intruder who came into the man’s life when he had everything because Fredrick Apaah introduced her to his family in 2015 and in bid of that, they won’t stop at nothing to silence her and take everything from her.
