The aftermath of the 2020 December elections is not something Ghana should be proud of looking at our track records regarding the democratic nurturing of our country Ghana. Though there were one or two hitches after the 2016 elections which resulted in the NPP sending their grievances to the supreme court, but what we see this year is not far from different.
The leadership and the flag bearer of the opposition NDC has since the 9th of December after the final declaration by the EC chair, openly rejected both the presidential and parliamentary election results which has resulted in numerous street protests and demonstrations from the party sympathizers leading to several brutalities and arrests.
At this same time where the country is currently under post election tension, the current president and president elect of the republic, president Akufo Addo is on a few days trip to London for a reason which is not known to most Ghanaians.
This has forced a very popular female journalist of Despite media fame by the name Afia Pokuah popularly known as Vim Lady to call on the president of the republic to cut short his trip abroad and return to the country. She made this statement this morning on United Television’s ‘Critical Issues’, a program hosted by herself. She added, at this point in time the President’s presence alone in the country will ensure some sense of leadership in the country.
“Though your vice is around, but we voted for you as the first gentleman of the land and you should be in your country. This is the time your country needs you as the president and president elect”, she concluded.
Do you think the President’s presence of the president alone will ensure serenity as it’s been asserted by this brave female journalist?
