Phoenix International School has outlined how the school is observing the Corona-Virus (COVID-19) safety protocols for the health and safety of the kids.
The school located at Agape Ablekuma within the Ga Central Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region is one of the neat schools in the area.
In an interview with the media, the Headmaster for Phoenix International School, Samuel Yidu pointed out that the first and foremost thing the teachers check is if the kid has the nose mask on.
“Before the kids enter the school premises we have teachers who stand outside and take the temperature of the kids, if it is okay then they come in.
We have the Veronica Bucket arranged, the kids wash their hands with soap, then they clean their hands with tissue paper made available. We also have the hand sanitizer for them to robe their hands again,” he disclosed.
The presence of the media in the school among others in Ablekuman was as at the beheads of the Chief of the Area, Nii Larbi Mensah V to see how schools within his jurisdiction are observing the COVID-19 Safety Protocols that the government has spelt out to citizens in the country.
The Media went round the schools with some of his elders from the Chief’s Palace to observe how the schools are coping with the situation.
This, the Headmaster for Phoenix International stated that since the virus maybe with the world for some time, education on it should be an everyday affair.
“So the best we can do to prevent it is to make sure that we follow all these rules, and making sure that the nose mask is always on even in the classroom. So these are the education we give to the kids,” he stated.
Mr. Yidu encouraged parents to help their kids even at home by observing the protocols adding that they as school authorities care about the kids.
“So we are telling parents that even when the children come home, or even before they come to school, anytime they are in the house, they have to make sure that they don’t allow them to go round playing.
Even when they are going out they should wear the nose mask, going to church, the nose mask must be on. They should also have the sanitizer by their side anywhere they are, they must robe their hands with the sanitizer,” he added.
The headmaster further disclosed that the health of the kids is their major concern adding that the school has written the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) six times with pass marks.
“We make sure and pray that they get admission to the school of their choices. As we are in this community, we make sure that we live up to expectations. So we are grateful to the Chief of Ablekuman, Nii Larbi Mensah for the initiative,” he stated.
