At least 10 “terrorists”, 2 defense volunteers killed in Burkina Faso

About 10 suspected terrorists, and two armed civilians supporting the Burkina Faso army were killed in different clashes on Saturday in the north of the country, security sources on Monday told Xinhua in the capital Ouagadougou.

The sources reported two attacks on Saturday by unidentified heavily armed individuals on positions of “Homeland defense volunteers” who armed civilians supporting the Burkina Faso army to ensure security in the country.

“At least six aggressors were shot dead in response to an attack on a position of Homeland defense volunteers at Ourfare in the Namentenga province”, a police officer said, adding the attack claimed the life of a volunteer.

Another attack, confirmed by other security source, was perpetrated still on Saturday by unidentified gunmen at Gorgadji, in the Seno province.

“At least five terrorists were killed and a volunteer lost his life”, the source said.

Earlier, Xinhua was told about the attack by a local elected politician from Diori, the regional capital of the Sahel, in the north of the troubled Burkina Faso.
