The Presiding Member for Asokore Mampong Municipal in the Ashanti Region, Hon Matthew Amissah has urged immigration officers along the border points to keep a strong eye against illegal immigrants.
Speaking to Modernghana News in relation to the crime rate in the area, he noted that environmental and sanitation laws among other anti-social vices have taken centre stage in Kumasi Asawase.
Hon. Amissah who also doubles as the Assemblyman for Asawase East Electoral area indicated that Asawase is a cosmopolitan area where people from various countries like Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin among others can be found.
The Assemblyman intimated that the foreigners turned Ghanaians break state laws with impunity.
According to Hon. Mattew Amissah, one of the biggest challenges confronting Asawase Community and beyond is the wanton disregard for laws by foreigners.
He said in order to combat crime in the Electoral Area, a Watchdog Committee has been formed, waiting for its inauguration to ensure full operation.
Hon Amissah noted that effective Tuesday, April 6, 2021, he will join hands with the Asokore Mampong Municipal authorities to go round some waterlog caution persons of the impending danger.
“This is to ensure that the Municipal can save itself from spending huge sums of monies for solving flooding issues when rains start,” Hon Amissah concluded.
