GFA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi Named CAF Vice President

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been named as the new Vice-President of the continental governing body the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Nyantakyi was named to the new position by the body’s new President, Ahmad Ahmad, and had his appointment approved by the CAF Executive Committee at a meeting Monday morning.

Nyantakyi, who has promised to step down from his GFA post when his current term ends, would be in his new position for a four year term.

The first Ghanaian to rise to such prominence within African soccer, Nyantakyi is also a member of the CAF Executive Committee, and was voted to represent Africa on the Fifa Executive Council for the second time in March.
