Public Relations Officer of Asante Kotoko Obed Acheampong has expressed his optimism ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors will be the sole representative of Ghana in this year’s CAF second tier club competition after winning the MTN FA Cup title last term.
The Kumasi-based giants have however had a rough pre-season training after being crushed out at the semifinal stage of the GHALCA G-8 tournament, losing 4-2 on penalties to bitterest adversaries Hearts of Oak.
The boisterous supporters of the Club were thrown into a state of doubt ahead of their Africa campaign following their abysmal performance over the weekend, where they lost 1-0 to Aduana Stars in the Super Cup clash at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
But the official mouthpiece of the club, Obed Acheampong has assured their teeming supporters to get behind the club as they bid to conquer the continent as well as the Ghana Premier League.
“I want to tell the fans that the team is preparing very well ahead of the CARA game and that none of the things that happened during preseason will repeat itself,” Acheampong declared.
“We are focused as a club, and we also believe in the players we have assembled for Africa.”
“We have learnt alot of lessons during preseason which we believe will help us a lot in Africa,” he added.
Kotoko will play Club Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon (CARA) of Congo in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup.
The first leg will be played on the weekend of 9-11 of February 2018 and the return leg 16-18 February, 2018.
