American born Ghanaian defender Chris Odoi-Atsem has been named in the Major League Soccer team of the week after his match winning performance for DC United on Sunday night.
The 25-year-old who only returned to football less than a year ago after winning his fight against Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer, scored the winner in the game against FC Cincinnati.
He was also effective on the right side of defence earning him a place in the Team of the Week in the MLS, his first this season.
He is joined by DC United teammate Donovan Pines, who netted the opener against FC Cincinnati and Jonathan Bornstein of Chicago Fire in defence.
Former Barcelona player Bojan Krikic stars in the middle alongside Ethan Finlay of Minesota United, Gadi Kinda of Sporting Kansas City and Ignacio Piatti.
The forward line is made up of Kai Koreniuk of LA Galaxy, Filipe Mora of Portland Timbers and Brian White of New York Red Bulls.
Goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell of Columbus Crew was the shot stopper of the week.
Ghanaian born Richie Laryea of Toronto FC found himself on the bench for the team of the week.
