Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Central African Republic midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia as a replacement for Thomas Partey.
Kondogbia has been signed from La Liga rivals Valencia on a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Under La Liga rules, Atletico were granted an extra 30 days outside the transfer window to replace Partey, as his release clause had been paid.
“The box-to-box footballer is a strong presence in midfield and contributes defensively and offensively,” is how Atletico’s website describes Kondogobia.
The 27-year-old is seen as a direct replacement for Partey, who completed a deadline day transfer to Arsenal.
The Gunners paid 50 million euros for the Ghanaian international midfielder.
Partey has made four appearances since joining Arsenal.
