A plus-size yoga instructor has amassed more than 85,000 followers on Instagram where she posts daily pictures of her poses, including deep stretches, headstands and even the splits.
Jessamyn Stanley, 27, who describes herself as a body positive advocate and Fat Femme, has been practising yoga since the age of 16 and now teaches classes in her hometown of Durham in North Carolina.
The writer is on a mission to challenge stereotypes and prove that anyone can practise and enjoy yoga, and says that her main goal is to improve the body confidence of similar shaped yoga-lovers.

On her website Jessamyn Stanley.com she urges people to ask: ‘How do I feel?’ Rather than, ‘How do I look?’.
She showed off her impressive flexibility and fitness in a recent video of a class in Hillsborough, North California, where she teaches Vinyasa Flow yoga to help her students move past mental and emotional barriers.

She said: ‘I just think that people are excessively concerned about looking one particular way and thinking that if you don’t look that way, then you can’t practice.
‘But regardless of what you look like, everybody starts somewhere.’
Jessamyn was introduced to Bikram Yoga when she was 16-years-old by her aunt and then, spurred on by a Groupon pass, began attending regular yoga classes.
She studied with Kimberley Puryear of Asheville Yoga Center’s 230-hour Teacher Training Program before becoming a teacher herself and now her eponymous yoga lifestyle blog and Instagram attract thousands of followers who look to Jessamyn for tips and advice on the popular stretching practise.

Jessamyn said: ‘If I do nothing else, I just want to make sure that people know that it literally doesn’t matter what your body looks like.
‘Not because your body can do anything, because that’s not the point of yoga. The point is to remember who you actually are.’
