Central Connecticut State University is in full lock down this afternoon and administrators are repeatedly urging students to stay indoors and away from windows after an armed man was spotted on campus.
Preliminary reports indicate that offices have contained the man in James Hall, a dorm on the campus of the university in New Britain.
Shortly after the lockdown began, the Central Connecticut State website was taken down and replaced with a short, urgent warning: ‘Campus Emergency. Remain Inside buildings. Stay in place! Stay away from Windows. Police are on the Scene.’

Police say there have been no injuries.
The Hartford Courant reports that witnesses say they saw a man on campus with a gun and knife.
The twitter account for James Hall, the dormitory that is the center of attention, tells students: ‘Stay safe, stay strong. Lock your doors and do not open unless you can confirm that it is a police officer.’
Two heavily-armed Connecticut State Police SWAT teams were en route to New Britain. Numerous police units from across the state on converging on the campus.
Pictures that began emerging on social media show officers sweeping the grounds of the school, some armed with assault rifles.
New Britain police did not immediately respond to requests for comment and no further details were immediately available.
The university’s Twitter page sent out multiple messages throughout the day.
‘This is not a drill, please stay indoors until the all clear,’ one message read.
