Transfer news LIVE: Arsenal bid again for Aubameyang, Manchester United target next signing, Chelsea to seal double deal

Transfer news remains top of the agenda with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool right at the forefront of the action in the January window.

Arsenal are chasing a replacement for Alexis Sanchez after his move to Manchester United was finally completed on Monday. Seemingly not satisfied with only Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Arsene Wenger has Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in his sights with negotiations in the balance. United aren’t done eitther. Jose Mourinho wants a central midfield player with Nice’s Jean-Michael Seri his top choice. But he won’t be buying a left-back after Luke Shaw’s resugent return to form persuaded him to change his plans.

Chelsea want a striker with Antonio Conte growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of options. Roma’s Edin Dzeko is the target and he looks set to arrive with teammate Emerson Palmieri in a £44m double deal. Manchester City, not content with being 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League, want a central defender with Athletic Bilbao’s Aymeric Laporte a likely arrival with West Brom’s Jonny Evans set for Arsenal.

We will have all the latest throughout the day right here.

Edin Dzeko will continue to feature in Eusebio Di Francesco’s side despite nearing a January switch to Premier League champions Chelsea.

Di Francesco has confirmed he has no plans to drop the forward amid uncertainty over the Bosnian’s future at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking in the wake of Roma’s 1-1 with Sampdoria on Wednesday, the Italian praised Dzeko’s commitment to the cause and insisted the forward would remain in his starting XI until he leaves the club.

The key purchases at Manchester United are set to be in central midfield as Jose Mourinho seeks a long-term replacement for the retiring Michael Carrick and wants to boost his options.

Jean-Michel Seri of Nice has become the main target while Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fred, a target of rivals City, is an option. United are also confident of doing a deal for 20-year-old Carlos Soler from Valencia, and Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl. The signing of Sanchez likely means they won’t pursue interest in Christian Pulisic as strongly.

The potential departure of Marouane Fellaini could well further influence things, but Mourinho may well go for another striker if the Belgian does leave. Fellaini is out of contract at the end of the season

Manchester United may have finally completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez but still the transfer speculation will not let up.

Lucas Moura’s name was touted in the weeks before Sanchez’s signing and the Paris Saint-Germain winger has been speaking about his future again.

The 25-year-old, who has struggled for regular playing time in Paris this season, has described his lack of first-team football as “a brutal blow”.

“I’m gutted that I’m no longer playing, to no longer be able to express myself as I was doing before,” he said.

Lucas has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur as well as United, though he would consider a switch to Spain. “It is true that La Liga could suit me,” he added.

Manchester City are pushing to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred before the summer.

The league leaders are looking to add a No.6 as cover for Fernandinho with Yaya Toure likely to leave at the end of the season.

And the Daily Telegraph report that City fear the deal could ratchet up in price and want it done before the World Cup.

Daniel Sturridge will be allowed to leave Liverpool this month in search of regular first-team football, with Roma reportedly emerging as one interested party.
Chelsea are interested in taking Edin Dzeko from the Serie A club and Monchi, their sporting director, has insisted that the Bosnian will be replaced if he leaves.
According to the Daily Star, Roma could rival Internazionale for Sturridge’s signature, though the Milan club remain favourites for his signature.
However, Sky Sports report that Sturridge is most likely to remain at Anfield this January unless Inter can strike a deal. Sevilla, another interested club, are yet to make a formal bid.

The signing of Alexis Sanchez has freed up Manchester United’s short-term transfer plans, with midfield now the priority area.
With the Chilean having been previously been expected to go to Manchester City, the Old Trafford hierarchy had wanted a winger, a striker and a star name but Sanchez effectively ticks all those boxes and allows different potential formations in attack.
United still want the new signing’s former teammate Mesut Ozil, whose Arsenal contract is up in the summer, but it is understood he would be seeking wages of over £300,000 a week.

Arsenal still want to sign Jonny Evans and will make a renewed move to bring the West Brom defender to north London this week..

Evans was a summer target for both the Gunners and Manchester City, and his refusal to sign a new contract at the Hawthorns means he is likely to leave in the summer if not by the end of January.

Albion are holding out for £20m for the veteran centre-back, even though a clause in the Ulsterman’s contract would allow him to walk for just £3m if they are relegated this season.

Thomas Lemar? Naby Keita? Malcom? No, it’s a full-back from Scotland.

Guido Carrillo appears to be heading for the English top flight after Monaco agreed to a deal with Southampton, the Telegraph says.
While the ink is not dry on any sale, it is thought a £19.2million bid has secured the deal, giving Saints fan something to look forward to as the club seeks to strengthen its attack.
The sale of Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool earlier this month has also opened up the opportunity to place a reported record £30million bid for Spartak Moscow’s Quincy Promes, according to the paper.

Rangers boss Graeme Murty has warned Alfredo Morelos’ English suitors they will have to spend big if they want to prise the Colombian away from Ibrox.

The striker sent Gers on their way to a 2-0 win over Aberdeen with his 13th goal of the season.

Murty admitted the little poacher should have grabbed a hat-trick after missing a couple of golden chances to punish Derek McInnes’ men further.

But even so, the Light Blues manager is convinced Rangers have something special on their hands and are not willing to let him go cheaply.

“Unless someone walks in with a barrowload of cash – and a big barrowload – he will be a Rangers player,” said Murty after being asked about quotes attributed to Morelos on Colombian TV about whether he would welcome a move to the Premier League this summer.

“I want players who have aspirations to be in a better place. Hopefully we can get better at Rangers.

“But the big prize is to play in the Premier League. You can safeguard your family’s future with one move. If we have someone good enough to go there, it’s fantastic for us.”

Liverpool will reportedly face competition from Atletico Madrid as well as Arsenal for Thomas Lemar’s signature this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Atletico could join the race for the £90m-rated Monaco winger if Antoine Griezmann finally leaves the club.

Arsenal remain interested in Lemar, despite the arrival of Henrikh Mkhitaryan at the Emirates in exchange for the want-away Alexis Sanchez.

Chelsea are prepared to risk unsettling some of their veteran stars by handing Edin Dzeko a two-and-a-half year contract and sealing a £57m double deal for the Bosnian forward and Roma teammate Emerson Palmieri.

Palmieri, a left-back who will play at wing-back for the defending Premier League champions, has already agreed a £45,000 per week move to Stamford Bridge and is just awaiting formalities.

But the deal to sign Dzeko has been more complicated, with the former Manchester City man looking for assurances over playing time and a longer contract than the Blues are usually willing to give those over 30.

ARSENAL NEWS

Arsene Wenger is concerned that Henrikh Mkhitaryan may have suffered a hit to his confidence after a largely-disappointing stint at Manchester United.

The Armenia international joined the Gunners on Monday in exchange for Alexis Sanchez, ending a see-saw 18-month spell at Old Trafford.

Mkhitaryan was a target for Arsenal before he moved to United in the summer of 2016 but he did not settle into the side and was often left on the sidelines by Jose Mourinho.

Now he has a chance to reinvigorate his stalled career in north London and Wenger has backed the 29-year-old to do so following his challenging time with the Red Devils.

Manchester City fans could be left shocked at the prospect of losing their star striker, Sergio Aguero.
The Sun reports that a possible deal may be in place to send the Argentinian back to Atletico Madrid in the summer.
While it would seem unlikely boss Pep Guardiola would want to lose the 29-year-old, the Spanish club are looking for someone to team up with Diego Costa, and Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann is on City’s radar – setting up a possible switch, the paper says.

West Ham are expected to pull off a coup by signing Portuguese international Joao Mario from Inter.
The energetic midfielder was a €40m signing for the Italian giants after impressing at Euro 2016 and with Sporting in his homeland, but Inter manager Luciano Spalletti has increasingly struggled to find space in his team for the 25-year-old.
A preliminary agreement has been reached with the player and Inter, with sources expecting the deal to be sealed this week.

LIVERPOOL NEWS

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta admits their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Emre Can may not be as straightforward as they hoped.

The Germany midfielder’s current contract expires in the summer and he is eligible to sign a pre-contract deal with an overseas club. But despite the Serie A side having coveted the 24-year-old for several months no such agreement has been struck.

Just over a week ago Can revealed his agent was still talking to Liverpool about their offer of an extension and it seems likely he will now wait until the end of the season to make a final decision.
