Daniil Medvedev vs Dominic Thiem LIVE: ATP Finals 2020 latest updates

The pair have been in imperious form in London, with Medvedev crushing Djokovic in the group stage before producing a stunning fightback against Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals. The Russian’s serve and groundstrokes have been almost faultless throughout the tournament, and he has dropped just one set across four matches.

Thiem, who recently won his first Grand Slam at the US Open, defeated Djokovic in an exhausting semi-final. The Austrian also boasts a victory over Nadal this week and avenged his loss in last year’s final against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Follow all the action live below:

MEDVEDEV* VS THIEM 1-1 (3-2)

That felt like a chance for Medvedev, who hit the net when it looked as though Thiem was in an unenviable position.

These two then play another rally of immense quality before Thiem hits the net to send it back to deuce.

A powerful serve sends Medvedev off the court, and Thiem – sensing his chance – goes for a drop shot but can’t lift it over the net.

The break point is saved by Thiem, whose powerful serve cannot be returned, but the Austrian again hits the net.

Yes, he can. The Russian brilliantly comes to the net and impressively volleys to win the game.

That’s potentially a huge moment.

MEDVEDEV VS THIEM* 1-1 (2-2)

Just as his opponent did, Thiem starts on serve with a huge ace.

With Medvedev on the defensive in the following rally, the Austrian fires a volleyed winner to make it 30-0.

Thiem utters a comment or two in frustration as he hits the net, and he commits a real unforced error as his backhand slice strikes the net.

Now at 30-30, Thiem hits a forehand out of bounds to give Medvedev another break point. Will this be the moment the Russian breaks his opponent?

No, not yet. A killer forehand from Thiem gives Medvedev no chance.

A forehand volley gives the Austrian the first point on deuce, but a brilliant point ends in his backhand landing out.

It’s still on deuce.

MEDVEDEV* VS THIEM 1-1 (1-2)

Another sensational forehand from behind the baseline gives Thiem the advantage, winning four straight points before a serve wins him the game.

Despite being down 0-40, Thiem holds.

MEDVEDEV VS THIEM* 1-1 (1-1)

Another rally ends in an unforced error off Thiem’s forehand, and he follows it up with another.

Medvedev suddenly finds himself with three break points. Djokovic could not do it yesterday, can the Russian?

Thiem saves the first with a wicked forehand, and saves the second thanks to his serve.

The Austrian expertly saves it with a strong second serve – and we’re at deuce.

MEDVEDEV VS THIEM* 1-1 (1-1)

Medvedev comes out hot, using his own powerful serve to lead before he hits a backhand out on the next point.

Thiem hits the net, and Medvedev does the same as he struggles to deal with his opponent’s slices.

At 30-30, Thiem hits a pair of forehands too long and Medvedev holds.

This is an incredible game to watch.

MEDVEDEV* VS THIEM 1-1 (0-1)

The Austrian then hits a forehand long to go down 0-30.

It’s Medvedev’s turn to hit it out now, bringing a run of nine consecutive points to a close, before Thiem ties the game back up.

Thiem uses his power to win and go to 40-30, but he fires a forehand long and wide after a 30-shot rally to take the game to deuce.

Thiem’s serve remains a weapon, and he leans on it to win both points and hold.

MEDVEDEV WINS SECOND SET 7-6 (7-2)

Another point goes the way of the Russian, before Thiem hits the net.

After six straight points, Medvedev has four set points – and he only needs one after a big ace.

MEDVEDEV VS THIEM* 0-1 (6-6 4-2)

Another long forehand from Thiem makes it all square, and Medvedev turns it around with a strong serve – that’s three straight points for the Russian.

Thiem hits the net with a cheap unforced error. I don’t think he expected Medvedev to return as effectively as he did.
