Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes are currently third in the top flight but will overtake second-placed Manchester United – who lost to Sheffield United earlier this week before drawing with Arsenal on Saturday – if they can overcome Marcelo Bielsa’s visitors. Leicester, who have won three and drawn two in their last five Premier League outings, would close the gap to leaders Man City to just two points with a victory here – though Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand. But Leicester take on dangerous opponents this afternoon in the form of Leeds. Bielsa’s team have won three and lost two in their last five showings in the division, leaving the promoted club twelfth in the standings at the exact midway point of their campaign.
HALF-TIME: LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS
Added time passes without incident, and the half comes to a close. Leeds have edged it, cancelling out Barnes’ early opener with a goal from Dallas moments later. Leicester have been unable to really find their rhythm, despite some moments of quality. And the visitors have competed well against one of the Premier League’s in-form teams.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (45’)
Some slightly unconvincing defending from Leeds as another cross is sent into the box by Albrighton. Cooper’s attempted clearance is skewed towards his own goal, but Meslier catches it.
There’ll be three added minutes.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (43’)
Close! Albrighton swings in a wicked cross from the right and Perez, at the near post, stretches and gets a touch on it. Leeds are fortunate that Meslier is in the right position to stop the ball, and that he’s able to claim the rebound with Maddison lurking.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (40’)
Tielemans finds Barnes, who turns and sees his shot blocked. When the ball drops Fofana is penalised for a foul on Cooper, just as Maddison crashes an effort against the bar.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (38’)
Ayling goes into the book for blatantly pulling James back.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (36’)
Leicester send on Ricardo Pereira in place of Castagne, who seems to have picked up an injury.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (35’)
Albrighton surges forward and picks out Barnes to his left. He slides a pass back into the path of Albrighton, who turns and shoots from a tight angle. But Meslier is in the way. For all of Leeds’ impressive play in this first half, Leicester remain a threat whenever they attack.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (33’)
Another good save from Schmeichel! Raphinha and Bamford play a clever one-two and the former breaks into the box before firing a low shot at goal. Schmeichel gets down to his left and parries it away. Leeds are well on top at the moment.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (32’)
Now Leeds have a goal ruled out! Bamford meets a corner with a powerful header from a few yards out, which Schmeichel somehow claws away, with a little help from the crossbar. Klich fires home the rebound, but he’s in an offside position.
LEICESTER 1-1 LEEDS (31’)
Harrison latches onto a long diagonal ball and hits a first-time shot on the bounce. There’s plenty of power on it, but Schmeichel saves at his near post.
