Police respond to active shooter report in Colorado
Authorities have refused to confirm the exact number of victims, but reports say that at least six people are dead after a gunman opened fire inside a grocery store.
A suspect has been taken into custody and is being treated for injuries, said police chief Kerry Yamaguchi.
Police say they are not aware of any connection between the gunman or the King Soopers store where the killings happened on Monday afternoon.
“This is a tragedy and and nightmare for Boulder County,” said district attorney Michael Dougherty.

Police have confirmed ten people were killed in the mass shooting in Boulder on Monday afternoon.
Boulder Police Chief Maris Herold confirmed the death toll at a press conference: “My heart goes out to the victims of this incident. I am grateful for the officers who responded.”
Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser said in a statement that he was angry at another act of ‘unspeakable violence’ in the state.
“I’m deeply saddened and angered with the news of another tragic shooting in Colorado,” he said.
“I’m thinking of all our fellow Coloradans in Boulder who were affected by the unspeakable violence that occurred at King Soopers on Table Mesa.”

Police tweeted an active shooter alert in Boulder shortly before 3 pm local time, with a video showing a handcuffed man, shirtless and covered in blood, escorted from the building about 30 minutes later.

A law enforcement source told ABC News that officers responded to a report of someone being shot in the store’s car park, and were in turn fired upon by a suspect.
