Despite a hectic schedule on her current
Italy trip, Kerry Kennedy is still managing to slot in some relaxation
time with her 18-year-old daughter, Mariah Cuomo.
The pair, who are
staying on the island of Ischia for its much-anticipated film and music
festival, were spotted soaking up the sun in their swimwear aboard the

The Marlin was commissioned in 1930 by Edsel Ford, industrialist Henry Ford’s son. The mahogany vessel was designed by Boston naval architect Walter J. McInnis and constructed by F. D. Lawley of Quincy, Massachusetts.
Five years later, the automaker sold the yacht to the Pennsylvania-based whiskey manufacturing company Schenley Distillers.
When World War II broke out, the U.S. Coast Guard drafted Marlin into coastal patrol service. After a complete overhaul following her discharge at the end of the war, Marlin was purchased by the Yellow Cab Company of Cambridge, Massachusetts and was at the disposal of the late Governor Paul Dever.
In 1952, former bootlegger-turned- power broker Joseph P. Kennedy purchased the boat and made it available to his family. As a U.S. senator, John F. Kennedy took his wife, Jacqueline, for relaxing cruises aboard the Marlin.
After being elected president, Kennedy held important meetings with his cabinet on the family yacht. It was aboard the Marlin that the commander-in-chief conferred with his military adviser General Maxwell Taylor, Secretary of State Dean Rusk, and Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara about Nikita Khrushchev’s increase in arms spending and latest threats against West Berlin.

Kennedy was on Marlin the August afternoon in 1961 ready to sail out
with his family when the message from Moscow was brought to him that the
Berlin Wall was being erected.
In 1970, the Kennedys donated their boat to a Florida university, which later sold her in a closed auction.
It is now owned by Diego Della Valle,
the CEO of Italian luxury accessories brand, Tod’s, who snapped it up at
a 1998 Christie’s auction for $167,500.
Kerry and Mariah were seen on the boat with a group of friends enjoying the clear weather.

On Saturday night, Kerry Kennedy was presented with a special award at a gala dinner for her human rights work.
The mother-of-three established the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Human Rights in 1988.
She currently acts as the honorary president for the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation of Europe, based in Florence, Italy.
While at the nine-day Globe Fest she also attended a special screening of Ethel.
The award-winning documentary by Kerry’s sister Rory, looks at the life of their mother, Mrs Robert F. Kennedy and breaks silence on her life in the infamous family during the Sixties.

The talk focused on the issues of human rights, media, and women.
It’s thought that the mother-daughter duo have been staying at the five-star Hotel Regina Isabella.
