Piers Morgan leaves Good Morning Britain after Meghan Markle comments

Good Morning Britain is saying goodnight to Piers Morgan.

Morgan is leaving the British talk show hours after he angrily stormed off the set when a cohost called out his comments on Meghan Markle, according to HuffPost.

“Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain,” ITV said on Tuesday. “ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Morgan had in recent days been going after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over their recent bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, calling it “contemptible” and a “two-hour trash-a-thon” while saying he doesn’t “believe a word” Meghan says. He drew particular criticism for suggesting he doesn’t believe Meghan’s comments about experiencing suicidal thoughts. The U.K.’s Office of Communications received over 41,000 complaints about Morgan and said it would investigate the show, NBC News reports.

On Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, Morgan was called out on air by cohost Alex Beresford, who called his behavior “absolutely diabolical.”

“I understand that you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle, or had one and she cut you off,” Beresford said to Morgan. “She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has, but yet you continue to trash her.”

Morgan then walked off the set — and though he was back on air after this segment, he’s now walking off for good.
